5 facts I find interesting from the film; "Bowling for Columbine"

Hey there :D

In english class we saw the movie "Bowling for Columbine" and today our teacher wants us to write down 5 things we find interesting. I'm not sure if it's in order, but whatever :D
So here we go, my 5 things.

1. The fist thing I find interesting is what happends in the bank at the start of the movie. I find it wierd that just by opening a bankaccount you can get a gun. I think it's good that the bank do a bagrund check, but it is still crazy!

2.  In Canada there is abot 7 million guns in 10 million homes. That is very many guns! This fact is actually related to fact number 3.

3. In Canada there's not very many gun murderes every year. Compared to over 30,000 gun kills in the USA every year. I would rather live in Canada ;D

4. There is not many people (if not NO ONE!?) in Canada who locks there door when they leave the house, our just is home. In the USA everybody locks there door, even if ther're just home. Talk about paranoia there?

5. The youngest school shooting ever was a 6 year old boy who brought his uncles gun to school, and shot a girl classmade, and she died :'(

That was my 5 facts ^^ So I'm going to saw once again....

5 Facts

Hellow, just uploaded some pictures, so now i better get to the homework ^^

  • Different estimates suggest that there are between 192 million and 250 million guns in the USA. Of these, 65 million are handguns.
Omg! between 192 and 250 MILLIONS?! That's crazy! I think it shows how many Americans that actually own a gun. Wow...

  • There were, on average, more than 30,000 deaths from gun violence each year during the 1990s.
30,000 deaths every year. The number seems SO high when you hear it, but when you think about it, it's only a small part of all the americans dying every year.
  • During the whole of the 20th century, the federal government enacted only eight laws regulating firearms nationwide.
Only eight laws to make sure that everybody's more secure? That is not very much..
  • An African American male under 30 years old was nearly nine times more likely to be murdered than a white male in the same age group.
Wow, that's.. Wow. I think that the numbers are like they are, maybe because of racism.
  • In 1998, women were 100 times more likely to be murdered with a handgun than use a handgun to kill in self defence.
Now that makes sence to me. Of couse womens are more scared of guns, it's a man thing. I think I would have the same odds, because I would be to scared both of the robber (or what it would be) and of the gun to even think of using it.

That was the homework :D
