A writhing exercise - The smells

The smells

He went through the door. He knew exactly what was waiting for him. He knew every smell in the mall, he had been there many times.  The smells in the big room created the most beautiful pictures, in his head, that he had ever seen. The sweet smell of perfume reminded him of his mother, which he had lost, last year. This was the best way to remember her. The smell of new baked bread that brought up the memories from his grandparents bakery He could recognize some of the workers he knew. Both of his friends, Matt and Alice, had they very own sent. The smell of the baby powder and cream, brought up the picture of his sisters sweet little baby.

As he walked against the perfume department, he remembered the day before the accident. His sister just had the loveliest little baby, and he and his parents was visiting her and her husband on the hospital. On the way home it was very foggy. The father was driving the car, but he could barely see anything. His mother was sitting on the other front seat, and he sat right behind her. Then he heard the sound. The sound he was trying to forget, but still clung himself to. It was the sound of his mother screaming. She screamed by the look of the giant truck who was coming against their little car. He knew from the way she was screaming, that it was over, and she knew it to.

The next day he woke up in the hospital. He panicked. He couldn’t see his mother, or his father. He began to scream. At doctor calmed him down, and then he began to cry. He cried for days, because nothing was worth anything, they were gone. It wasn’t fair that his parents were dead, and he only got a handicap! His sister came and cried with him. He inculcated her smell, and promised himself that he would never forget that smell.

He was standing at his favorite perfume stand. There was the smells of his sister and mother. He could stand there forever and look at his own memories. Matt passed him. “Hey” he said. Matt started laughing, “I can never trick you, can I? I hope I can surprise you some day”. “That will never happen, I know you too well Matt” he said and smiled. “I guess you’re right. Well I better get back to work. See you around!” He heard Matt’s shoes against the floor, heading the opposite direction. ‘See you around’ was their little private joke that nobody understood, except for them. He went to the flower shop. He wanted to buy some flowers to his mother’s tombstone, after all, it was her birthday. He went around in the shop looking for her mother’s favorite flowers, white lilies. Just before he got to them an assistant from the shop came over to him. “Excuse me, Sir. Can I help you finding anything?” she asked. “No thanks” he answered, “I’m just looking around.” He could hear on the assistant that she was confused, and he smiled. He got his flowers, and went out in the street again, with a little smile on his lips.

This was my story, I hope that it wasn't to long :)

  2. Yes, it's not that obvious, but I would also think, that the boy is blind?
But he could also just be missing a leg or something...
